Getting Away

Made a list of places I'd like to go or experiences I'd like to have this summer, into the fall, and maybe  even a little beyond.

  1. Visit Roz
  2. Visit Alan
  3. Florida cemetery
  4. Beth David
  5. Cedar Park
  6. Delaware Beach twice
  7. Ocean City before July
  8. Europe end of summer
  9. Picnic locally twice
  10. Pennsylvania water park
Not an unreasonable set of destinations.  Four require hotels.  Three require air travel.  Maybe about forty days total needed to do all of them.  Technically I've done all of them before, but all can be different experiences from the ones before.

Some things not on the list, though not specifically rejected.  Never been white water rafting.  Sorta been deep sea fishing once, but more as a chaperone with scouts than as a mighty sea hunter.  Never driven cross-country or even to Florida.  Not been mountain climbing or hang gliding.  Have been largely risk averse.  So this upcoming experiences recapture the once familiar, or maybe the shoulda been more familiar, though each in a different way.

This time when visiting the Bay Area I should rent a car or take a day trip through a tour operator to wine country.  Can venture outside Pittsburgh to the Flight 93 monument or to Fallingwater.  If I go to Florida, even with South Florida National Cemetery as the reason for the trip, I should do my best to connect once or twice with old friends.  Same with the NY Cemeteries.  Delaware beaches could be combined with minor tourism or fishing.  Ocean City can be extended to Assateague, or that can be the primary destination.  Europe needs anniversary celebration that prompted the trip.  Picnics can perhaps be elevated to gourmet, maybe including one venue that permits wine, or having the picnic at a winery while we sip their wine.  Still some Pennsylvania water parks I've not visited.  Could wait on this and go to one of the indoor options when it is no longer suitable for outdoor soaking.  Lots of options, still in early stage.  I intend to do them all.
